Why is Overdrive unable to acquire a license?
I just discovered that my library has eBooks and videos that can be downloaded with Overdrive Media Console on loan. However, when I try to download a video, a dialog box appears that says “Unable to acquire a license to play the selected title.” Some sites have suggested doing the Windows Media Player security upgrade, but I did it and still have this problem. What can I do?
I’m pretty sure one of the issues can be the firewall on your computer. A patron from an Overdrive library once came to me to try and figure out a similar problem and we traced it to the firewall. Essentially, the patrons firewall was blocking the license transmission. So you might want to check your firewall logs to see if they’re too restrictive.
